Present simple
He likes fruit. I love pizza. They prefer soup. 

This is the basic present simple – just the verb.
If you have he, she or it, then you add an -s to the verb.

When to use the present simple? 
You use the present simple for things that happen often, routines and habitsWe walk to school every day. He often buys chocolates.

You use the present simple to talk general truths:
My name is Lucas. Water boils at 100 degrees.

It can also be used for planned events in the future.
The train leaves at 8 o'clock.

Present continuous
To form the present continuous, you use the verb "be" and add "-ING" to the verb.

I eat ---> I am eating
She makes a cake ---> She is making a cake.
It snows ---> It is snowing.
We go to the beach ---> We are going to the beach.

When to use the present continuous?

You use the present continuous when you are talking about an action or event that is taking place right now and is temporary - it has started somewhen in the past and will end somewhere in the future.

ex: Right now, I am working!

Past simple
Add "ED" at the end of the infinitive form of the verb:
I walk ---> I walked. 
He loves this pizza ---> He loved this pizza

Some verbs are IRREGULAR! You must learn these by heart.
I go to school everyday ---> I went to school everyday.
We have a cute dog ---> We had a cute dog

When do we use the past simple?
1. When something happened in the past and it has finished
I worked in the supermarket when I was a boy.
2. When we talk about a time in the past
We lived in Holland in 1991.
3. When you talk about something you always did
I collected stamps when I was a child.
4. When you tell a story
Once there was a farmer, who lived in a small village.

AUXILIARY VERBS VS. MODEL VERBS
Auxiliary verbs are helper verbs, used alongside the infinitive form of the main verb of a sentence with certain tenses.
ex: I eat an apple ---> I have eaten an apple.
 
Modal verbs are a type of auxiliary verbs which add meaning to the main verb: possibility, intent, ability, necessity...
ex: I swim ---> I can swim.
