Penetrating conditioning Treatment - Formative

Expectations- Salon Rules
  • No entering the classroom without a tutor 
  • Arrive in salon uniform - Tunic, trousers, black shoes
  • Remove all outdoor clothing before entering the salon. 
  • Remove jewellery - no rings, hoop earrings, facial piercings, bracelets.   
  • No food/ chewing gum or drinks  when entering the classroom- Only water in a clear bottle
  •  Participate fully in your session
  • No Hands up- Questions- No opt out 
  • Bring pens & note pad 
  • No use of mobile phones- unless instructed to by tutor
  • Set up trolley and put bags away.
  • Toilet breaks not permitted in the first 30 minutes or the last 15 minutes of your session 
  • Learning Review booklets/ Knowledge organisers

Surface conditioners are everyday conditioners which smooth the cuticle layer and temporarily improves the condition of the cortex

Set up work area with all tools and equipment. and gown client with correct PPE
Choose suitable products and explain benefits.
Complete consultation - Including all hair tests.
Shampoo and detangle the hair from point to root.
Section the hair into 4 quadrants.
Apply conditioning treatments to mid-length and ends.
Complete petrissage massage.
Develop, rinse and blowdry.

  • Penetrating conditioners are deep conditioning treatments
  • They penetrate the hairs outer layer into the cortex  and adds strength and moisture to the hair
  • Penetrating conditioners need to be on the hair for 1-15 minutes depending on the manufacturers’ instructions.
  • Putting the client under heat helps the conditioner to penetrate deeper into the hair
