Past perfect

De past perfect geeft aan dat iets vóór een bepaald moment of vóór een andere gebeurtenis in het verleden heeft plaatsgevonden. Vaak gebruikt in combinatie met de past simple

Voorbeeld:

He had walked the dog before he went to school.

Hoe maak je de past perfect?

1. was/were + ww + ing
2. am/is/are+ going to+ hele werkwoord
3. have/has + volt.deelwoord
4. had + volt.deelwoord

Past perfect

De past perfect maak je als volgt:

had + voltooid deelwoord

Let op!

Regelmatige werkwoorden eindigen op -ed.

Onregelmatige werkwoorden hebben een eigen vorm: gone, eaten, etc. (p.285 All Right)

Possessive 's, ' and ...of...

Je gebruikt de possessive om bezit aan te geven, of om aan te geven dat iets bij iets anders hoort.

Voorbeelden:

Tess's bike was stolen yesterday

Houston is in the state of Texas

Possessive 's, ' and ...of...

's achter zelfstandige naamwoorden in het meervoud die niet op -s eindigen (personen, dieren).

The passive

(present simple and past simple)

Bij een zin in de passive is het belangrijk of bekend wie de handeling verricht

Wat is de passive?

De passive (lijdende vorm) gebruik je als het niet belangrijk of bekend is wie de handeling verricht.

Je legt de nadruk op wat er gebeurt in plaast van wie het doet!

De vorm van de passive

De vorm van de passive bestaat uit:

een vorm van to be + voltooid deelwoord

Soms staat er by achter, maar niet altijd.

The car is not washed often by my father.

Passive: present simple

Gebruik am / are / is + voltooid deelwoord

This shop is run by two sisters.

The football matches are interrupted by earthquakes.

Passive: past simple

Gebruik was / were + voltooid deelwoord

I was invited to the wedding by my brother.

They were scammed during their trip.
