• West of South America
• On the equator (evenaar)
• In the Pacific Ocean (Grote of Stille Oceaan)
• Boat  (3 days!) or plane to Galapagos leaves from Ecuador - 1000 kilometers

Size and status

• about as big as Greece
• 18% is land, rest is water
• 127 islands
• volcano islands: some islands still grow!
• 4 islands only are inhabited
• 97% is protected: National Parc and on UNESCO-states

Darwin saw almost the same animals he already knew, 

but 

on the Galapagos they were different.
