LO:  I can learn about the first full length animated film.

Walt Disney loved trying new things and he started experimenting with animation.  

Animation is when a sequence of drawings or pictures is shown quickly to appear as if it is moving.

In 1929 Walt Disney made the first film with an animated character who spoke.

The character was Mickey Mouse and his first words were, "Hot dog."

At this time animated films were short.

People enjoyed watching short cartoons but nobody thought that anyone would want to watch a cartoon that lasted over an hour.

People were very surprised when Walt Disney made the first full length animated film in 1937.

The film is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and the next slide shows you the trailer made at the time.  

Walt Disney explains about the film to try and get audiences interested in it.

Snow White was released in colour in 1937 which is nearly 90 years ago and it lasted for 83 minutes.   How long is that?

It was a huge success and made so much money that Walt Disney could build a new film studio to make more movies.
