Slide 4 - Diapositive

How to make questions and negations
When modal verbs (hulpwerkwoorden) such as can, could, will, would, may, might, must, should and a form of the verb "to be" are in the sentence, you can move them to the front, and you have a question!
When you want to make a negation, you put "not" or "n't" after this verb
Examples:
I can play the piano - can I play the piano? I cannot/can't play the piano
That is my pen - is that my pen? - That is not my pen
It is very helpful to write this down!

Slide 5 - Diapositive

When you cannot use a modal verb or a form or to bo, you use do or does or you can use question words.

Slide 7 - Question ouverte

How to make questions or negations without modal verb or a form of to be
You can use these question words and do or does in the beginning of a sentence. In a negative sentence you put not or n't after the form of to do. The main verb then changes to the infinitive

Examples:
My dad works in the military - does my dad work in the military? - my dad does not work in the military

Slide 8 - Diapositive
