Negatives 

wat zijn dat? 

• Hoe heten negatives in het Nederlands?
• ontkenningen
• Wat betekent ontkennen ?
• Nee zeggen, Nee hoor ik heb het niet gedaan bijvoorbeeld
• Nee hoor ik heb geen kauwgom in mijn mond!
• In het Engels gebruik je dan vooral NOT.

Hoe dan?? 3 manieren 

1. Zinnen met het werkwoord to be (zijn) door not achter am, is, are, was, were te zetten.
2. Zinnen met 2 werkwoorden door not achter het hulp- werkwoord te zetten
3. Zinnen met 1 werkwoord door het hulpwerkwoord 'to do' te gebruiken én not er achter te zetten en dan volgt het hele werkwoord. 

Zinnen met het werkwoord to be 

tegenwoordige tijd

• I am at school   
• I am not at school                    verkort:   I'm not at school  
• You are a nice guy 
• You are not a nice guy            verkort: You aren't a nice guy
• He is my brother 
• He is not my brother               verkort: He isn't my brother 

Zinnen met het werkwoord to be

verleden tijd

• You were in the classroom. 
• You were not in the classroom  Verkort: You weren't in the classroom.

• She was smiling 
• She was not smiling                         Verkort: She wasn't smiling

Zinnen met twee werkwoorden 

• I have been to Paris.                       I have not been to Paris     
• She could sing well.                        She could not sing well
• They can sleep all day.                   They cannot sleep all day
• We should do our homework      We should not do our homework
• Let op: have, could, can en should zijn hier hulpwerkwoorden
• Verkorte vormen zijn haven't, couldn't, can't, shouldn't, .....

Zinnen met 1 werkwoord 

(en dan niet to be)

• Om de ontkenning te maken heb je een hulpwerkwoord nodig en dat is to do.
• De vervoeging maak je bij to do en daarna volgt het hele werkwoord 
• I work in a supermarket.   I do not work in a supermarket   (don't)
• I worked in supermarket. I did not work in a supermarket (didn't)
