• Korte vragen die je  aan het einde van een Engelse zin plakt als je bevestiging wilt. 
• In Nederlands: 'toch?'

Hoe maak je een tag question............ 

4 dingen om op te letten:

1. Is de zin positief of negatief?

2. Welk werkwoord staat in de zin?

3. Hoofdzin en tag questions staan in dezelfde tijd.

4. Juiste persoonsvorm gebruiken in tag question.

1. Positief of negatief zin?

Positieve hoofdzin -----> negatieve tag question.

Negatieve hoofdzin ----> positieve tag question.

Bijv: He is a strict teacher, isn't he?        You aren't in class, are you?

2. Werkwoord: (be) am, is, are, can en andere hulpwerkwoorden: 

deze werkwoorden herhalen in tag question.

Bijv.: You can speak English, can't you?    You aren't listening, are you?

Uitzondering: zinnen met I am gebruikt je aren't I in de tag question.

1. Positief of negatief zin?

Positieve hoofdzin -----> negatieve tag question.

Negatieve hoofdzin ----> positieve tag question.

Bijv: He is a strict teacher, isn't he? You aren't in class, are you?

2. Werkwoord: (be) am, is, are, can:

deze werkwoorden herhalen in tag question.

Bijv. You can speak English, can't you? 

         You aren't listening, are you?

Uitzondering: zinnen met I am gebruikt je aren't I in de tag question.

I am late, aren't I?

2. Andere werkwoorden:

Een vorm van do in de tag question gebruiken.

Bijv: She volunteers at the hostel, doesn't she?

        He collected money for charity, didn't he?

3. Hoofdzinnen en tag questions staan in dezelfde tijd:                present & past.

Bijv.: kijk naar de zinnen hierboven.

2. They used to live in New York, didn't they?
3. They used to live in New York, don't they?
4. They used to live in New York, aren't they?

Which sentence is correct?

1. He was late yesterday, wasn't he?

3. He was late yesterday, weren't he?
4. He was late yesterday, were he?
