Until the may holiday, we're going to learn about communism, liberal democracy and national socialism
  • It will be about parts of chapter 2 and 3 and some other things
  • Friday before the may holiday you have to submit your PA (counts 2x) --> you will have the last two weeks before the holiday to work on it

Revolutions
After Lenin has defeated his opponents in the civil war he declares Russia to be a one-party state
  • Inspired by the Russian Revolution, communists in Germany also revolt in 1919 --> their leaders are arrested and get shot

Coups
A coup is when a small group plans to seize power
  • In 1922 a group of Italian fascists, led by Mussolini, stages a coup in Italy; later they make Italy a one-party state
  • Inspired by this, a group of national socialists (led by Hitler) also stages a coup in Germany in 1923 --> they fail; Hitler gets imprisoned

USA politics can be described by the term liberal democracy: a govenment of the people and for the people

We are going the form an even number of groups (3-4 people)
Half of the groups will get question 1, the other half question 2
  •  You have 5 minutes to write an answer that should be understandable (so no words you don't know)
  • After 5 minutes the groups switch and then you can improve the answer of the other group (with the different question)
