Chapter 1

We meet Elizabeth, who goes by Daisy because she's more plain than dignified. She is 15.

Daisy previews the book for us: It's about the summer she went to England to live with her cousins and everything changed. Because of Edmond. Daisy is from New York City.

Chapter 2

Daisy arrives at the airport in London in England and is looking for her aunt Penn. She is instead picked up by her cousin Edmond. He is 14, smokes and drives a car. He explains Aunt Penn is working.

Edmond answers questions Daisy asks in her head, before saying them out loud.

Chapter 3

Daisy fell asleep in the car. When they arrived, Daisy was welcomed by four kids, a goat and two dogs (Jet and Gin).

The kids: Edmond and his twin brother Isaac (14), Osbert (16, the oldest) and Piper (9, a girl). The house is worn down and old, bit very large with a lot of farmland.

Aunt Penn always has Important Work To Do Related to the Peace Process.

Chapter 4

Daisy slept for almost the whole day. She has no network on her phone at the new house. Daisy talks about Davina the Diabolical (her stepmother), who is pregnant. She was sent to England because she refused to eat.

Piper and Daisy go to the barn where Daisy meets Ding, the goat. 

Daisy talks about her best friend Leah from NYC.

They go inside and at lunch she meets Aunt Penn, who says she looks like her mother (who died).

Aunt Penn says she has to go to Oslo to give a lecture on The Imminent Threat of War.
