We gebruiken de should, must en have to als we het over 'moeten' hebben. De woorden hebben een verschil in gebruik.

In this game you must find and destroy the alien invaders.

If you see aliens, you have to destroy them with a gun or sword.

Should 

Should betekent 'eigenlijk moeten' of 'zou moeten'. Met should geef je je eigen mening of die van een ander.

Must

Must gebruik je als iets (wettelijk) verplicht is, als het niet anders kan of als het belangrijk is.

Have/has/had to 

Have to, has to en had to kun je in alle andere gevallen gebruiken. 

In combinatie met de hulpwerkwoorden may, will en would moet je sowieso have to gebruiken.

 

Had to gebruik je in de verleden tijd.

Adverbs zeggen iets over werkwoorden, bijvoeglijke naamwoorden of andere bijwoorden. 

Een adverb is adjective + -ly
