Adjectives

1. Frank is a good singer 
2. My brother is a careful driver.

An adjective tells us more about a noun (something or someone).

An adjective is always placed before the noun

 Adverbs
1. Frank sings well. 
2. My brother drives carefully.

Adverbs tell us more about a verb (werkwoord).

Adverbs tell us how someting is done or happening.

Adverbs are placed after the verb.

Adverbs:       -ly
Most adverbs are made by adding -ly to an adjective:
     
Beautiful - beautifully

Let op! Soms verandert de spelling van het bijwoord. 
Terrible - terribly
Easy - easily

Let op!
1. My teachers are nice.
2. That car looks beautiful.

Na koppelwerkwoorden zoals: to be (zijn), to seem (lijken), to feel (zich voelen) + to look (eruitzien), to smell (ruiken), to sound (klinken), to taste (smaken) gebruik je geen bijwoord, maar een bijvoegelijk naamwoord.

Een bijwoord kan ook iets zeggen over een bijvoegelijk naamwoord. 

1. Frank is an extremely good singer.
2. My brother is an awfully careful driver.
3. It's an absolutely perfect video clip.
