Quantifiers: all, every and each
Quantifiers show a quantity (how much).
Rule 1: we always use the word all together with a plural form.

-> We went to all the sights in the city.
-> We gingen naar alle bezienswaardigheden in de stad.

Rule 2: we always use the word every together with a singular form.

Rule 2: we always use the word every together with a singular form.

Pay attention!
We can only use te word every for amounts larger than 3. Otherwise we use the word each. 

-> Every country in the world has a capital city.
-> Ieder land ter wereld heeft een hoofdstad.
-> Each of the two teams has a chance of winning.
-> Elk van de twee teams heeft kans om te winnen.

Summary:
All and every are used to talk generally about a group of people or things.

We use: all before singular or plural countable or uncountable nouns. The following verb agrees with the noun;
every and each before singular nouns. The following verb is also singular.

For example:
— “All students are silent during the exam.” 
= Students is a plural noun and when it is used with all it refers to a complete group.
— “Every student is silent during the exam.” 
= Student is a singular noun and when it is used with every it refers to individuals.
— “Each student is silent during the exam.” 
= Student is a singular noun and when it is used with each it refers to students taken individually.
