Lesson goals

• Je gaat oefenen met Engelse spreekvaardigheid
• Je leert verschillende manieren waarop je een antwoord kunt starten
• Je leert aangeven dat je iets niet snapt
• Je leert om verduidelijking te vragen 
• Je leert een aantal 'vulwoorden' die je kunt gebruiken

Engelse spreekvaardigheid

• Voor iedereen anders
• De ene doet dit vloeiend, de ander vindt het moeilijk om te beginnen

Een aantal tips om je te helpen een gesprek te starten.

Als je deze gebruikt, ben je al met spreekvaardigheid bezig en hier scoor je punten mee!

Opdracht:

• Bedenk een stelling die jij wilt beantwoorden
• Je gaat (minimaal 1 minuut) in het Engels antwoord geven op je stelling
• Gebruik gespreksstarters, vulwoorden, koppelwoorden (because, therefore,since, as, like)
• Antwoord in hele volzinnen

Voorbeelden van fillers/hesitation devices

Fillers (vulwoorden):

• You know
• I mean
• You see

Stalling for time (tijdrekken):

• Let's see
  
• Now let me think  for a second
• Hang on
• Now, that's a difficult one!

Listen for signal words or phrases that connect ideas 

reasons — because, since

results — as a result, so, therefore, thus, consequently

examples — for example, such as

comparisons — in contrast, than

an opposing idea — on the other hand, however

another idea — furthermore, moreover, besides

Je gebruikt voegwoorden om zinnen samen te voegen, bijvoorbeeld:

She booked a ticket to Paris. She had always wanted to climb the Eiffel tower.

She booked a ticket because she had always wanted to climb the Eiffel Tower.

Voegwoorden worden gebruikt om zinnen te verbinden.

Linking words

• Words that connect two sentences.
• Types of Linking words.
  Addition: and, also, moreover, furthermore
  Contrast: but, however, nevertheless, on the other hand
  Cause and effect: because, since, as a result, consequently
  Time: then, later, after, before
  Conclusion: in conclusion, to sum up, therefore, thus

1. and, but, or, so, -> connect sentences
