Sex hormones
Hormones that work in the reproductive system are called sex hormones. 

  • Testosterone: male sex hormone
  • Oestrogens: female sex hormones

  • Different amounts are produced in males and females
  • Production of these leads to the physical change of male and female bodies
  • This production happens in many stages of life!

Primary sexual characteristics:


These are present at birth.
There is a clear difference between male and female.


Secondary sexual characteristics:


These develop during puberty under the influence of hormones.
These secondary sexual characteristics make the differences between males and females even clearer.
