Negatives

She doesn't like Taylor Swift.

We shan't go to the party.

You can't pass me the salt.

You haven't got an e-bike.

You don't have a smartphone.

They haven't left.

Basic rule

Questions: do/does + hele werkwoord

Negative sentences: do/does + not + hele werkwoord

Does he see the squirrel?

I don't like homework.

Exception 1: to be en hulpwerkwoorden

Questions: Bij to be of andere hulpwerkwoorden zoals can, must en shall zet je het hulpwerkwoord vooraan in de zin.

Must we write that report?

Can you bake chocolate brownies?

Negative sentence: Bij to be of andere hulpwerkwoorden zoals can, must en shall plak je not achter het hulpwerkwoord.

He isn't nice.

Isn't she lovely?

Exception 2: to have

Geeft have een handeling aan? Dan gebruik je do/does voor vragen en don't/doesn't voor ontkenningen.

Do we have dinner at 6 p.m.?  We don't have dinner at 6 p.m.

Bij have got gebruik je GEEN vorm van do maar have of has vooraan zetten bij vragen en not achter have of has plakken bij ontkenningen.

Has she got an expensive car? No, she hasn't got an expensive car.

Have kan ook als hulpwerkwoord worden gebruikt dan gebruik je GEEN vorm van do. Je zet have/has vooraan bij vragen en bij ontekkingen plak je not achter have/has.

Have they disappeared? No they haven't disappeared.
