Examples of simple sentences
I like to watch television. 
I am very keen on cooking.
They express one idea. 
They start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. 
They have a subject. In both of these examples the subject is 'I'. 
They both have a verb. In the first sentence it is the word 'like' and in the second sentence it is the word 'am'. 
They make sense on their own.
