1: At the end of this class, I will better understand how to use simple, compound and complex sentences + relative pronouns. 

2: At the end of this class, I will have worked on my PO & practiced in Holmwoods/reading booklet. 

Make a compound sentence:
John - swimming, running, likes it a lot

Simple, compound & complex 

3 types of sentences: 

• simple sentences: one subject + one verb 

example: I work in a supermarket every Sunday. 

• compound sentences: when you join two simple sentences with linking words (for, and, nor, but, or, yet or so (FANBOYS))

example: I need to take the test, but I am too sick to go to school. 

Make a complex sentence:
I'm hungry, wait for friend, lunch

Simple, compound & complex 

• complex sentences:  simple sentence + dependent clause with linking words such as because, although, after, when, before. 
• dependent clause = part of a sentence with a verb that does not express a complete thought. 

example: She liked singing in front of the mirror when she was younger.
