Present simple (onvoltooid tegenwoordige tijd)

Gebruikt: bij feiten/gewoonten/regelmaat/ tijdschema's

 I/you/we/they = hele werkwoord (work/dance/kiss)

He/she/it = hele ww + (e)s (kisses, pushes, dances)


- She always buys new clothes online.

- He dances with Bert every week.

- We never work together.

Present continuous



Gebruik: als iets nu (niet) aan de gang is of waar iemand nu (niet) mee bezig is.

Am/are/is + ww + ing


- My friend is talking to the sales assistant at the moment.

- I am not writing at the moment.

- Are you walking the dog?

Peter can’t come to the phone. He has / is having a bath right now.

Past simple (onvoltooid verleden tijd)



Gebruik als iets in het verleden gebeurde en het duidelijk of belangrijk wanneer dat was.
Gewoon: ww + -ed. Vraag: did + hele ww. Ontkenning: didn't + hele ww

- Last weekend, I bought a new pair of jeans.

- Did I buy a new pair of jeans last weekend?

- I didn't buy a new pair of jeans last weekend.

Past simple (onvoltooid verleden tijd)



Let op de spelling!
e valt weg als je hem niet hoort: love -> loved
soms dubbele medeklinker i.v.m. de uitspraak: stop -> stopped
y na medeklinker -> ie: try -> tried
l verdubbelt in werkwoord als: travel -> travelled

Past continuous



Gebruik als iets een tijdje in het verleden aan de gang was of iemand ergens mee bezig was. Anders dan de Past Simple! (wordt soms wel samen gebruikt).

Vorm: was/were + (not) + werkwoord+ ing

- She was walking the dog.

- She was not walking the dog.

- Was she walking the dog?
