Chapter 2: Materials & Method
  • Materials:
All materials used in the corrent amounts and names, you can even add pictures if you wish.

  • Method:
Instructions written in short clear sentences, no past tense!!

Remember clear instructions for a 7 year old idiot.
  • All materials: clear names / amounts / listed with bullet points.

  • Procedures: all steps /  short simple sentences /  give clear time instructions / step 1: ...

RUBRIC:

"Materials in list form, including amounts and pictures. Procedure concisely stated in numbered steps, present tense, complete sentences. Procedures have been clearly defined in set-up, plant care and data collection. Safety and environmental considerations mentioned."

Chapter 3A: Data Collection
  • Collect all measuements in tables in sheets (so you can make graphs). All tables, graphs and pictures must have 1-2 sentences of a description with them.
  • Physical observations:
Write down all physical obeservations too, and organise these in tables too.

make sure all you graphs and tables have at least 2-3 sentences of accompanying information.
Chapter 3B: Data Analysis
  • Identify if there are patterns in the data you have collected.
  • Name these patterns and compare the results.

Name which patterns you see, and try to explain why you think these occur
  • Tables: data is in tables / clear and legible / footnotes (title & 20-30 words). at least 2

  • Graphs: clear and legible / footnotes (title & 20-30 words). at least 3

  • Analyses: what do you see, what patterns can be observed. (150 words)

"Observations from the experiment are complete and well categorised. Measurements/data listed in tables with correct labeling. Graphs of data when necessary, with title and labels on axes and a clear and concise. accompanying text. There is a very good stop motion video of the plant in the light and the plant in the dark."

Chapter 4: Conclusion, Evaluation & Discussion.


  • Conclusion:(200-300 words)
Our Guiding Question is: ”jnjbnlhvkuvuc?” and our Hypothesis is: “If……….., then ……………. . “ Our hypothesis is accepted / rejected, because……..blah blah blah…….

A Summary of the data should also be part of the conclusion. Try not to copy from the data section. Highlight key points of information from the data that are most relevant to drawing your conclusion, then elaborate with your interpretation of the data.

use your data to argue why your hypothesis is accepted or rejected.

RUBRIC:

"Conclusion gives a very good and clear reference to the hypothesis and observations, along with detailed explanations. Explains whether the findings support the hypothesis and explains why clearly. Debates what went well and what did not and evaluates how this research could be improved in the future. Reflects very well upon own behaviour as possible influences on the results of this experiment."
