First we need to figure out what wind is exactly.

Basic principles

• Warm air is lighter than cold air and
   therefore rises.
• Cold air is heavier than warm air
  and therefore descends.
• Warm air can contain more moisture
  then cold air.
• The wind always blows from areas with
  high air pressure to areas with lower air
  pressure
