Building Blocks B1- Unit 3
You’re probably so used to it that you no longer notice it, but most texts are organised. Whether you watch a video on YouTube, read the instructions for a new app or listen to a presentation; all texts, spoken and written, are organised in a similar way. A well-organised text is easy to understand and gets the message across.
You’ll find out in what ways texts are organised and how you can organise your own texts. You’ll do this while focusing on different aspects of movement: vehicles, new ways of transport, moving house and sports. Come on, let’s get moving!

Building Blocks B1- Unit 3
Text organisation

1 introduction
This is the first part of a text. The introduction tells you what the text will be about. This helps you to decide if you want to read the full text.
2 body
This is the main part of a text. The body contains information, ideas or arguments. This is usually the largest part of a text and can have several paragraphs.

3 conclusion
This is the final part that brings the text to a logical end. A conclusion can include different things, such as a summary, an opinion or a call for action.
You can use the first and last part of a text for clues about the body: what is this text about? Will it give me the information I need?
