Prepositions 

Voorzetsels van beweging geven aan in welke richting iets of iemand zich beweegt. (Kijk grammar survey 21)

Negative questions

Ontkennende vragen; deze worden vaak gebruikt om bevestiging te vragen maar je kunt ze ook gebruiken om ergernis of ongeloof uit te drukken. 

BV: Isn't he that famous actor ? (bevestiging & ongeloof) 

Als er in de zin een vorm van to be (was/were/am/are/is), have/has got of een hulpwerkwoord staat (can/should bv) zet je deze vooraan in de zin gevolgd door het woordje not. 

He is that famous actor. 

-> Isn't he that famous actor? 

In alle andere gevallen maak je een ontkennende vraag met don't/doesn't of didnt. 

Sam knows this is a bad idea. 

-> Doesn't Sam know this is a bad idea? 

Maak ontkennende vraag:
Vera and Tim are running the half marathon next week.

Maak ontkennend:
We watched the rodeo in Montana

Maak ontkennend:
You can stay over tonight.

Modals (Hulpwerkwoorden) PT2.

Should: je gebruikt should (+not) + hele werkwoord als je vind dat iets (niet) moet. Je wilt bijvoorbeeld advies geven of iets afraden. 

You shouldn't eat that fish, it doesn't look good anymore. 

-> Je raadt het af dit te doen. 

Modals (pt.2) 

Must: je gebruikt must (+not) + hele werkwoord als je vind dat iets niet moet. Must is krachtiger dan should. 

You must pay the bill. 

-> Veel krachtiger dan should, meer moeten. 

Modals (Pt.2) 

Has/have to: je gebruikt have/has to (+not) + hele werkwoord om zekerheid, noodzaak of verplichting uit te drukken. 

Je gebruikt deze ook als je wilt aangeven dat iets van iemand anders moet. 

My teacher says you have to study for the test 

-> Moet van iemand anders.
