the study of the size, the composition and distribution of the population

The absolute increase in the world population is enormous, but the relative population growth has decreased from 2% to 1%. Explain this.

Population growth is uneven. Where does the population grow a lot, and where doesn't the population grow as much.

• Rich countries: low population growth. A lot of population ageing.  
• Poor countries: high population growth. Because of the many births, also a relatively young population. 
• Because of the population explosion: a lot of demographic investments. 

What migrationflows do we see 1. within countries, 2. between countries?

Migrationflows

• Within countries: rural to urban
• Between countries: from poor to rich countries, or from unsafe to safe countries. 

How can we see that living sustainably may not be possible with so many people on the earth?
