Past continuous of simple past? 

• Een losstaande afgesloten gebeurtenis: simple past
  I went to the zoo yesterday. 
• Een losstaande gebeurtenis die een tijdje bezig was: past continuous
  Yesterday at eight I was watching the news. 

Past continuous of simple past? 

• Twee gebeurtenissen allebei in het verleden en na elkaar:2xsimple past
  Last week I went to the zoo and out for dinner in a restaurant.
• Twee gebeurtenissen in het verleden die tegelijk plaatsvonden:
  2x past continuous
  I was having dinner while my husband was working.
• Twee gebeurtenissen die na elkaar plaatsvonden, de tweede onderbrak de eerste: simple past én past continuous
  I was doing the dishes when you entered the room.

Fill in the correct form of the tenses. When you have to give more than one answer, separate these with the use of a comma. 

For instance: 

was going, visited

Yesterday I ...(go) to the library, next I ... (have) a swim, later I ... (meet) Julie for a coffee.
