General directions

Turn left                                   Go straight                                      Turn right

Go past (= langsgaan)

Go through (= (tussen)door)

Go down .... street (= straat aflopen)

Cross the road (= oversteken)

Prepositions of place

- Behind = achter

- Between = tussen

- In front of = voor

- Next to = naast

- Opposite = tegenover

Exercises (10 minutes)

- Three exercises on handout:

1 and 2: look at the map and write down the right location of the buildings (using the prepositions of place)

3: ask for directions

    write down the directions

    thank the person for giving directions

--> After 10 minutes, we will discuss the answers of the first two exercises

Discussing answers

- Make sure to check your answers and correct your mistakes

Speaking exercise

- Think about how you get from your house (or another location) to school.

- Write down the directions (individually)

- Write at least 5 directions

- Do not write down too many directions either

--> 5 minutes time to do so

In pairs:

- Ask your classmate the directions from their location to school

- Your classmate will call out the directions

- You are going to listen to the directions and draw a map
