Singular (ev) --> Plural (mv)

Be careful (1)!

1. Some words will end with -s, but they are not plural.

For example: athletics, maths, news, gymnastics, politics

Maths is a difficult subject

2. Some singular words will refer to [=verwijzen naar] a group and will have a plural verb.

For example: police, Italy (in a match!), audience

The police are searching for the criminal

Be careful (2)!

3. We sometimes use the plural for objects that have two parts

For example: trousers, pants, scissors, glasses

These jeans are new.

You can use (a) pair of + noun

This pair of jeans is new.
