Past perfect

Je gebruikt de past perfect als je iets vertelt over twee dingen die in het verleden zijn gebeurd. De ene gebeurtenis vond plaats voor de andere gebeurtenis. 

Het is dus: 'the past of the past'. 

Voorbeeld: He had worked that night before he crashed his car. 

 

Past perfect

De vorm van de past perfect is:

had + voltooid deelwoord

(voltooid deelwoord = ww + ed)

                     of  

                     3e vorm onregelmatige ww

Past Perfect

• Als je wilt vertellen dat iets gebeurde voordat iets anders gebeurde in het verleden. 
•       Je ziet in deze zin de past perfect en de past simple terug

   I had never flown in an airplane, before I went to London.
