Verleden tijd vs Tegenwoordige tijd

The Past Continuous

+) was/were + infinitief+ing

was working, were playing, were doing, was swimming

-) wasn't / weren't+ infinitief+ing

weren't working / wasn't playing / weren't doing/ wasn't swimming

?) was/were + ond + infinitief+ing

was...working?, were...playing?, were...doing?, was...swimming?

Gebruik: om te vertellen over iets dat in het verleden bezig was

Signaalwoorden: during, while

The Past Simple

+) infinitief+ed of 2e vorm

walked, did, played, ran, bought, went, etc.

-) didn't + ifinitief

didn't walk, didn't do, didn't play, didn't run, didn't buy, etc.

?) Did + ond + infinitief

Did ... walk?, Did ... do?, Did ... play?, Did ... run?, Did ... buy?, etc.

Gebruik: Wanneer iets afgelopen is in de verleden tijd

Signaalwoorden: ...ago, last..., specifieke momenten (yesterday, in 2006, etc.)

The Present Perfect

+) have of has + infinitief+ed of 3e vorm

have cried, has played, have done, has had

-) haven't of hasn't + infinitief+ed of 3e vorm

haven't cried, hasn't played, haven't done, hasn't had

?) Have of Has + ond + infinitief+ed of 3e vorm

Have ... cried?, Has ... played?, Have ... done?, Has ... had?

Gebruik: in het verleden begonnen en gaat nu door, ervaringen tot nu toe, nu gevolg van eerdere gebeurtenis

Signaalwoorden: For, Yet, Never, Ever, Just, Already, Since, Lately, Recently

The Present Simple
