The Present Continuous Tense

Different uses of the Present Continuous

+time expressions

- actions now: I am working now/at the moment.

- temporary situations: I am living in London at the moment/currently/for a few weeks/for a couple of months.

- annoying habits: You are always/constantly losing your keys!

- definite future plans: I am meeting my father tomorrow/later/at 7pm/on Tuesday.

Questions and negations in the Present Continuous

Question: 'to be' + verb met -ing 

Am I looking? 

Is she talking?

Negation: 'to be' + not + verb met -ing 

I am not looking. 

She is not talking.

How to write a good composition?

Structure

Title

Paragraph 1: Introduction - introduce your topic

Paragraph 2: First body paragraph - positive points

Paragraph 3: Second body paragraph - negative points

Paragraph 4: Conclusion - summary of the information from the body paragraphs and final answer

Organise your thought and ideas

Linking words

Linking words (signaalwoorden) are the 'signs' that help you find your way in a text. They are used to link words, phrases or sentences. Thus, they help to build up clear relationships within the text.
