# are different from regular verbs 
# change in vowelsound (I fly, I flew, I have flown)
# change in word ( I go, I went, I have gone)
# don't change at all (I hit, I hit, I have hit)

# there are over 200 of them!
As said: 
The past tense in English comes in past simple (verleden tijd) and past particible (voltooid deelwoord).

Net als in het Nederlands is het voltooid deelwoord nooit het enige werkwoord in een zin.

verleden tijd: De vaas brak gisteren. 
                          => The vase broke yesterday.   
                      
voltooid dw: De vaas IS gebroken. 
                         => The vase HAS BROKEN.
