De spelling kan bij sommige werkwoorden in de  present continuous net een beetje anders zijn:
  • They are travelling at the moment. 
  1. (meerdere lettergrepen, klemtoon op 1e lettergreep, dan de -l verdubbelen. (Br EN)
  • I am having breakfast. 
  1. (werkwoord eindigt op medeklinker + -e, de -e valt dan weg)
  • He is beginning to understand. 
  1. (meerdere lettergrepen, klemtoon op laatste lettergreep, korte klinker + medeklinker, medeklinker verdubbelen)
  • She is getting up for school.
