Present simple 
When do we use it?
- Things that happen often, habits, routines
School starts at 8.15.
- Feelings, opinions, permanent situations
I like reading new books.

Present continuous
When do we use it?
- Things happening now (at the moment of speaking)
We are learning about the present tenses.
- Things happening around now 
I am learning English. She is not reading a book right now.

Present perfect
When do we use it?
- Events from the past that have consequences in the present
I can't give you my textbook, I have lost it.
- Events that started in the past and are still going on
She has lived here for 5 years.
- Past events when it doesn't matter when they happened 
I have been to a lot of countries in Europe.

Past simple
When do we use it? 
- Events that happened in the past and are finished
I worked at the store yesterday. We met in 2016.
- To talk about past habits
I didn't eat blueberries when I was a child.

In short: How do we use it?
Present Perfect:                 =3e rijtje
P: ow + have/has + volt. dw. (ww+ed)
N: ow + haven't/hasn't + volt. dw.
Q: have/has + ow + volt. dw.
Past simple
P: ow + ww + ed (2 rijtje)
N: ow + didn't + hele ww
Q: did + ow + hele ww
Present simple:
P: ow + ww (+s, SHIT-rule)
N: ow + don't/doesn't + hele ww
Q: do/does + ow + hele ww
Present continuous
P: ow + to be + ww + ing
N: ow + to be + not + ww + ing
Q: to be + ow + ww + ing

Replies: agreeing and disagreeing
Step 1: negative (ontkennend) or positive (bevestigend)?
Step 2: ontkennend = use 'not' or 'don't', bevestigend = use 'so' or 'too' or 'neither' (see examples)
Step 3: formulate a correct reply using the right personal pronoun (persoonlijke voornaamwoord) 

bijv. I'm not happy with this. > Neither am I (agree)> of I am (disagree) 
          I am happy with this. > So am I (agree)> I'm not (disagree)
          I like this painting. > Me too (agree)> I don't (disagree)

Compound adjectives/ use of like
- Compound adjectives
Words that are always joined with a hyphen: well-dressed, brand-new etc.

- Use of 'like'
Five ways to use the word 'like' (verb of preference and preposition).
