Present Continuous

• De present continuous is een vorm van de tegenwoordige tijd.
• Je gebruikt de present continuous bij gebeurtenissen die:                   
  
•    nu aan de gang zijn

Present Continuous:

1. He was working late.
2. He is working late.
3. He worked late.
4. He has worked late.

Present continuous:
Pick the present continuous.

1. We are eating lunch at the cafeteria.
2. They have eaten lunch at the cafeteria before.
3. She ate lunch at the cafeteria.
4. He has eaten lunch at the cafeteria.

Present continuous

1. aan te geven dat iets NU aan de gang is. Signaalwoorden zijn o.a: "now, at the moment, listen..." enz.

2. aan te geven dat je iets van plan bent. Meestal staat er bij wanneer je in de toekomst dat van plan bent.

3. irritatie aan te geven

Maak de present continuous door: vorm van 'to be' (am/is/are) + ww+ ing

De present continuous beschrijft

1. Een feit
2. Een mening
3. Een regelmaat
4. Wat op dit moment gebeurt

Present Continuous:
Pick the present continuous.

1. I am going to be waiting at the crossroads.
2. I was waiting at the crossroads.
3. I am waiting at the crossroads.
4. I will be waiting at the crossroads.

Past continous

Wanneer: Iets was in het verleden aan de gang of iemand was ergens mee bezig in het verleden. 

Hoe: was/were + werkwoord +  -ing

I was working

I was not working.

Was I working?

Past continuous

De past continuous geeft aan dat iets in het verleden aan de gang was.

Hoe maak je deze? Je pakt de verleden tijd van het werkwoord 'to be', en plakt -ing aan het werkwoord dat erachter komt. 

De past continous komt vaak voor in combinatie met de past simple!

Past Continous en Past Simple

Past Continuous = al aan de gang ( lang)
(was of were + ww+ing)

Past Simple = iets gebeurde (kort)

(ww+ed of 2e vorm)
