Past continuous

  •  Iets was aan de gang op het moment waarover gesproken wordt. > We were reading a book last night.
  • Als een handeling bezig was (past cont.) en deze onderbroken wordt (past sim.) > She was walking her dog when she saw het friend.
Past simple

Onregelmatige ww= 2e rijtje 
To see, yesterday I saw, I have seen
  •  Iets wat in het verleden is gebeurd + afgerond > He cooked dinner last night.
Past perfect

To see, yesterday I saw, I had seen
  •  Een gebeurtenis wat voor (past perf) een ander gebeurtenis (past sim) is gebeurd in het verleden  >  After we had eaten dinner, Henry came in.

Past perfect

Gebeurtenis 2: gebeurt tussendoor
Gebeurtenis 1: duurt het langst

Hetgeen wat het langst duur = past continuous
Hetgeen wat tussendoor gebeurt = past simple

1.While they were watching TV, the power went out.
2.I was driving home when I saw the accident.
3.The phone rang while I was cooking.
4.When her friend called, she was studying.
Gebeurtenis 1:  gebeurt als eerst. 
Gebeurtenis 2: gebeurt daarna
Hetgeen wat als eerst gebeurt = past perfect 
Hetgeen was daarna gebeurt = past simple

1. After I had finished my homework, I went to bed.
2.By the time they arrived, we had already eaten dinner.
3.She had read the book before she watched the movie adaptation.
4.The concert had started by the time we got to the venue.

Uiteindelijk laat ik ze exercise 3 individueel doen en dan mogen ze het nakijken

How do you change an active sentence to a passive one?
Je maakt de passive door de juiste vorm van  ‘to be’ + het voltooid deelwoord  te gebruiken. Het voltooid deelwoord is dus ww+ed, of het 3e rijtje van een onregelmatige werkwoord.
Stap 1: Zet het lijdend voorwerp vooraan de zin. (wie of wat + ow + ww?) 

Stap 2: Vraag jezelf af in welke tijd de zin staat. 
Zie tabel rechterkant. 

Stap 3:  verander het werkwoord naar voltooid deelwoord
Dus 'I have ............' > ( I have ) built, (I have) worked

Bijvoeglijk naamwoorden omschrijven een mens/dier/ding.

                        Adverbs
Bijwoorden omschrijven werkwoorden. Dus hoe iets gedaan wordt.

1. Bijwoorden eindigen vaak met 'ly'
- quick>  She got here quickly.
2. Als het woord eindigt met 'y' verander het naar 'ily' 
-  happy> She hugged him happily
3. Als het woord eindigt met 'ble' of 'the' verander het naar 'bly' of 'tly' 
-  horrible> My parents are suffering horribly
-  gentle> she placed it gently on the table. 

4. Soms verandert het woord niet
-  fast> He's driving fast.
-  hard> She works hard
5. Soms verandert het woord helemaal.
- good> They are studying well
