Vandaag gaat het over de Past Simple & Past Continuous

Maar eerst even een korte terugblik op de Present Simple vs Present Continuous. Hoe zat dat ook alweer?

De Present Simple gebruik je voor dingen die volgens een vast schema of rooster verlopen, voor feiten en als iets regelmatig (bijvoorbeeld elke week of elke maand gebeurt)

De Present Continuous gebruik je voor dingen die op dit moment (NU) gebeuren en dingen die in de toekomst gepland zijn.

Hoe maak je de past continuous ook alweer?

 

Om de past continuous te maken heb je altijd 2 werkwoorden nodig, namelijk een vervoeging van to be (was of were) + werkwoord met -ing erachter.

Dus: I was playing with her.

Als je WHEN in de zin hebt staan staat er een past simple en een past continuous in de zin.

De past continuous duurt langer : He was working...

De past simple is een moment en kort: ... WHEN she arrived.
