Past simple: when to use

• Je gebruikt de past simple als iets in het verleden is gebeurd, en het belangrijk is wanneer.
• Je ziet dit vaak aan woorden zoals: last night, in 2015, yesterday.

Past simple: how to use

• Bij regelmatige werkwoorden: voeg -ed toe aan het werkwoord

I played football yesterday

• Bij onregelmatige werkwoorden: deze woorden hebben een eigen vervoeging

I went to the park (go > went)

Past simple: how to use

• Bij een vragende zin: did + het hele werkwoord

Did you visit your grandma this week?

• Bij een ontkennende zin: did not (didn't) + het hele werkwoord
• I didn't eat pizza.

Past continuous: when to use

• Je gebruikt de past continuous als je zegt wat er op een bepaald moment in het verleden aan de gang was of wat je toen aan het doen was.

Past continous: how to use

• Je maakt de past continuous met een vorm van to be (was/were) + werkwoord + ing

I was playing a game
He wasn't playing a game
