Theme 4: Grammar 12 (If-Sentences)

If-Sentences = "Als ... , dan ..."

Gebruik je voor drie dingen: 

         - Feiten: "Als je hier op drukt, dan gaat het licht aan."
         - Bijna zeker dat het gaat gebeuren: "Als het niet regent,
           dan gaan we voetballen."
         - Bijna zeker niet gaat gebeuren: "Als ik een miljoen win, 
            dan koop ik een kasteel."

1. Feiten

"If you press this switch, the light goes on."

"Water boils if you heat it to 100 degrees."

Gebruik twee keer de present simple (werkwoord of 
werkwoord + s bij he/she/it). 

2. Bijna zeker gebeuren

"If it rains, we will bring an umbrella."
     pr. simple    will + ww 
"I will send him a card, if you give me the address."
   will + ww                                   pr. simple  

Gebruik de present simple voor de voorwaarde (if ...) en 
will + werkwoord voor het gevolg. 

3. Bijna zeker niet gebeuren

"If I had more money, I would buy a car."
  past simple                    would + ww 
"John would go on holiday, if he received a higher salary."
          would + ww                               past simple

Gebruik je de past simple (ww+ed / 2e rijtje) voor de voorwaarde (if ...) en would + werkwoord voor het gevolg.
