'If' sentences 

Lesdoel:

- Ik kan if, will, en would correct toepassen in een zin. 

Feiten (of wat altijd waar is)

If you heat ice, it melts. 

If you eat fast food, you gain weight. 

Water boils if you heat it to 100 C.

Constructie:         if   + present simple   + present simple

(bijna) zeker dat iets gaat gebeuren:

Als je (bijna) zeker weet dat iets gaat gebeuren. 

If the weather is fine, we'll go to the park. 

I will buy a ticket if it is not too expensive.

Constructie:    will + het hele werkwoord,  if + present simple

(bijna) zeker dat iets niet gaat gebeuren:

John would go on holiday if he weren't ill. 

If I won the lottery I would buy a car. 

Constructie:  if + past simple,  would + het hele werkwoord

Veel gemaakte fout:

If I would be rich, I buy a car.

If it will rain, I go to the park. 

If en will/would zo ver mogelijk uit elkaar.
