Slide 1 - Diapositive

Goals
- You learn about the differences between some, any, every and no and when to use them.
- You write an email to your 'colleagues'

Slide 2 - Diapositive

Some and Any
Some en any lijken qua betekenis ontzettend op elkaar.

I have some money left.
I haven't got any money left.

Ze geven beide een hoeveelheid aan. So, what's the difference between the two and when do we use them?

Slide 3 - Diapositive

Some
Some gebruiken we bij positieve of bevestigende zinnen.

I have left some soup for you in the kitchen.
Please treat us with some respect.
He said he would get the cat some food from the shop.
Would you like some coffee?
Can I help you with something?

Slide 4 - Diapositive

Any
Any gebruiken we wanneer we een zin negatief maken, of een vraag stellen.

I haven't left any soup for you.
Did you leave any soup for me?
You don't treat us with any respect.
Why can I never be treated with any respect?
You didn't get the cat any food!
Did you get the cat any food?

Slide 5 - Diapositive

Some and Any

I have got some money left in the bank.
It's silly to go traveling without any money in the bank.
He has some hair left.
He hardly has any hair left.
He had some problems with English.
He never had any problems with English.
Occasionally, he plays some videogames.
He rarely plays any video games.

Slide 6 - Diapositive

Some and Any
Bijvoorbeeld:

You can take any road going south.
Grab any shirt that you want.
You can fly with any company.

Any and Every
Any en some lijken niet alleen op elkaar. Any en every lijken ook op elkaar.
We gebruikten any net om een hoeveelheid aan te duiden, nu gebruiken we any om 'elke' aan te duiden.

You can choose any color you like!
I go to the gym every day.
Ik ga elke dag naar de sportschool.

Slide 14 - Diapositive

Any and Every

We could meet any day of the week.
You can ask me any question you like.

We gebruiken every als we letterlijk alle bedoelen.
We could meet every day of the week.
You can ask me every question you like.

Slide 15 - Diapositive

No
No kun je gebruiken als not any (geen), dus ook in samenstellingen. No geeft extra nadruk.

You haven’t got any idea?
You’ve got no idea?
She doesn’t want anything.
She wants nothing.
There isn’t anybody who can fix this computer.
There’s nobody who can fix this computer.

Slide 16 - Diapositive

Some, Any, Every and no
Je kunt woorden met some, any en every met -one, -body, -where, -thing, -how, -time, -way enz. samenstellen. Je gebruikt ze dan op dezelfde manier.

You can ask me anything you like.
He welcomed everyone who came in.
Can I ask you something?
