Simple present

Wanneer gebruik je de tijd?

Bij gewoontes en feiten. Als iets altijd, nooit of regelmatig gebeurt. Zoek naar signaalwoorden zoals always, never, usually, normally, every day/week/month, at nights, etc.

I walk to school.

They listen to music.

hele werkwoord + s: als het onderwerp 3e persoons enkelvoud is; she, he, it, my mother, the cat, Laura, etc.

He talks with his mum.

John watches TV.

Vragen en ontkenningen maken

Zet 'do' of 'does' (S.H.It-regel) vooraan in de zin, gevolgd door het onderwerp en het hele werkwoord om een vraag te maken.

They introduce a new topic. - Do they introduce...?

She misses her boyfriend. - Does she miss her boyfriend?

Gebruik 'don't' of 'doesn't' en het hele werkwoord om een ontkenning te maken.

We eat dinner at six. - We don't eat dinner at six.

My father likes to watch sports. - My father doesn't like ...

Vragen en ontkenningen maken

Om een vraag te maken zet je am/are/is vooraan in de zin, er verandert verder niets aan de vorm van het werkwoord. 

Are we reading this book? 

Is he complaining to you? 

Om een ontkenning te maken voeg je 'not' toe achter am/are/is, je kunt alles uitschrijven of een verkorte vorm gebruiken. 

I am not listening. / I'm not listening

You are not making any sense. / You're not making... / You aren't making...

4 mogelijkheden:

1. will + hele werkwoord: iets wordt bedacht op het moment van spreken, er wordt een hoop/wens uitgesproken voor de toekomst, iets gaat gebeuren in de toekomst

        I think I will visit my grandparents this afternoon. 

        I hope he will be present. 

2. am/are/is going to + hele werkwoord: bij een bestaand plan, als er bewijs is dat iets gaat gebeuren

         We are going to visit my grandparents this weekend. 

         It is going to rain.

4 mogelijkheden:

3. present continuous: bij afspraken waarvoor iets geregeld is

       We are seeing a movie tonight. 

        They are getting married in June. 

4. simple present: bij zaken in de toekomst die lopen volgens een vast schema 

         This shop closes at 5 PM.

         The plane departs in twenty minutes.

Vragen en ontkenningen maken

1. will + hele werkwoord

          - zet 'will' vooraan in de zin om een vraag te maken

          - gebruik 'won't' om een ontkenning te maken

2. am/are/is going to + hele werkwoord

          - zet am/are/is vooraan in de zin om een vraag te maken

          - voeg 'not' toe om een ontkenning te maken, je mag de verkorte vorm gebruiken of                   alles uit schrijven
