• Jack the Ripper was a very bad person who hurt people in London many years ago.
• The ladies that Jack the Ripper hurt were poor and worked in a special area of London.
• The police tried to find out who Jack the Ripper was, but they couldn't find him.
• Jack the Ripper hurt the ladies very badly, and it looked like he didn't like them.
• Many people still like to talk about Jack the Ripper because we still don't know who he was, and some people have ideas about it.

= direct speech (directe rede) - je herhaalt letterlijk wat er door iemand anders is gezegd. 

Mary Kelly zei: 'Ik moet wat geld vinden'.
