Beschrijving opdracht:

Graaf Geo neemt jouw leerlingen mee op reis door de Amerikaanse stad. Aan de hand van de Graaf is het onmogelijk om nog langer te gissen naar de opbouw en kenmerken van Chicago of LA.

Leerdoelen:

Je onderscheidt de opbouw van de verschillende wijken in een (Nederlandse) stad.

Opdracht:

• Schets het model van de Amerikaanse stad met de drie cirkels (ringen). Houd in elke cirkel voldoende ruimte om aantekeningen te maken.
• Geef elke cirkel de juiste naam en noteer de kenmerken van de verschillende delen die Graaf Geo in zijn rap benoemt.
• Zoek op internet afbeeldingen van de verschillende delen van de steden die aansluiten bij het beeld dat door de Graaf wordt geschetst en voeg ze toe aan jouw model.

Model of a modern Western city

CBD: Central Business District is an area in a city where many companies and shops are located.

It is often the geographical center of the city. In a business district people mainly work and there are few homes.

Gentrification

Renewing and renovating old, dilapidated buildings in a city. This is often close to the center.
This often involves pushing poor people out of the city center because the rent becomes too high for them to pay.

Slums

Dangerous, often smelly, poorly built houses and streets.

Rich people often don't want to live here.
