Boarding method during M2.1
The boarding method used during M2.1 and also at the final assigment (simulation) is class boarding, namely:

  1. Business class passengers and passengers who are member of the frequent flyer program;
  2. Economy class passengers.
    Class boarding is also called Priority boarding

Frequent Flyer
  • Loyalty program to attract and keep customers;
  • The more you fly, the more benefits;
  • For a KLM flight (M2.1) the elite and elite plus members are entitled for priority boarding (class boarding).
Business class
  • Passengers travelling in business class do travel in the so called 'C' class. 
  • On the boarding pass you recognise this by the letter 'C' under the heading 'Class'.

During M2.1 At the gate and boarding the focus is on 4 types of special passengers:
  1.  A passenger travelling with an infant (INF);
  2. An Unaccompanied Minor (UM);
  3. A passenger with Reduced Mobility (PRM);
  4. A passenger travelling with a Pet in Cabin (PETC).

  • These passengers are called the pre-boarders and board the aircraft
      before all other passengers.

Infant
  • Infant: 0 -2 years old;
  • Infant has no seat; is sitting  on parent's lap;
  • During take-off and landing:  extension seatbelt
Stroller, buggy or pushchair
  • Check in at the gate as check-in baggage;
  • Label it with a destination label;
  • Attach a gate ramp delivery label;
  • Explain the baggage reclaim procedure.
Infant travel documents
  • The infant has an own boarding pass with INF as a seat instead of a seat number;
  • In most passports, the child is with the parent in the passport;
  • US infants do have an own passport.

  2. Make a pair;
  3. Play a role play as a PGSA at the gate and a passenger travelling with a infant;
  4. Change roles;
  5. You have 15 minutes for this assignment.
