Indirect speech - tijdsbepalingen

Let op met tijdsbepalingen! Afhankelijk van de context moet je deze ook aanpassen. 

My mother mentioned: 'You are going to be late today!'

My mother mentioned that I was going to be late that day. 

yesterday --> the day before

last night --> the night before

tomorrow --> the next day 

Indirect speech - personal and directive pronouns

Persoonlijke voornaamwoorden moeten worden veranderd als het voor de betekenis van de zin uitmaakt. 

Aanwijzende voornaamwoorden moeten worden veranderd van 'this/these' naar 'that/those'.

'I believe this is ridiculous'. 

He said he believed that was ridiculous. 

Indirect speech - sentences in imperative

Bij zinnen in de directe rede die in de gebiedende wijs staan, zet je dit werkwoord niet in een andere tijd, maar gebruik je 'to + hele ww'

'Sit down!'

He told me to sit down. 

She said: 'He works in a bank.'
She said that...

They mentioned: 'We went out last night.'
They mentioned that...

My dad told us: 'I was waiting for the bus when it arrived.'
My dad told us that...

Sue said: 'I didn't go to the party.'
