To be going to (grammar 17)

Je gebruikt 'to be going to' om te vertellen wat iemand van plan is om te gaan doen. Het is dus nog niet gebeurd, het is de toekomst.

Bijvoorbeeld: Ik ga morgen naar het strand fietsen. / I am going to cycle to the beach tomorrow.

Let op! De volgorde van de woorden in de Engelse zin is heel anders dan die in de Nederlandse zin. Kijk maar eens waar de werkwoorden staan:

Ik ga morgen naar het strand fietsen. (voor en achter in de zin)

I am going to cycle to the beach tomorrow. (alle werkwoorden achter het onderwerp)

Je vormt de toekomstige tijd op de volgende manier:

Onderwerp + 'to be' + going to + hele werkwoord

 'to be' = am/is/are

Dus: 

(play) Tom ... football tomorrow. - Tom is going to play football tomorrow.

Bevestigend	Ontkennend (+not)	Vragend (am/is/are vooraan)
