3 types of culture

- Dominant Culture: (dominating society) heersende cultuur in a specific place or area

- Sub culture : shares characteristics of the dominant culture, but is different in some respects 

- Counter culture: actively goes against dominant culture

When cultures meet 

There are multiple ways society deals with different cultures. 

Assimilation - Change completely to the new culture

Integration - Adapt partially, maintain part of your own culture but become part of the dominant culture

Segregation - cultures do not meet and do not adapt to each other
