Past simple

- Afgesloten gebeurtenis in het verleden

- Regelmatige werkwoorden: ww + ed

- Onregelmatige werkwoorden: 2e uit rijtje

--> Pak lijst met onregelmatige werkwoorden erbij

- Text --> I am going to read the text, underline all the past simple forms. 

Past continuous

Past simple: iets in verleden gebeurd en nu afgesloten

Past continuous: iets was in het verleden voor langere tijd aan de gang en nu afgesloten

Verschil: nadruk op langere tijdsduur!

Bijvoorbeeld:

- I rode my bike yesterday (past simple)

- I was riding my bike yesterday (past continuous)

Past continuous vorm

Vorm: was/were + ww + ing 

Examples:

- I was dancing at the club

- He was eating a sandwich this morning

- You were sleeping during the entire concert.

- The past simple en past continuous worden vaak samen gebruikt in een zin.

--> Iets was in het verleden aan de gang (past continuous) toen er op een bepaald moment iets anders gebeurde (past simple)

--> I was walking my dog when a man fell of his bike

- I was eating my sandwich when the train arrived

Make sentences with past simple + past continuous

Examples: 

Dance - steal

--> I was dancing at the club when someone stole my hat

Leave - call

--> We were leaving the club when your mum called me
