Relative pronouns

- Who, which, that, whose

- Refer to a person, animal, thing, or location.

Example

Verwijzen naar personen

- I play tennis with Bart

- Bart lives in Amsterdam

"I play tennis with Bart, who lives in Amsterdam."

Example

- This is my car

- I bought this car in 2013

"This is my car which I bought in 2013."

When do you use "that"

- Only in a sentence where there isn't a komma before "which."

"This is my car which I bought in 2013."

"This is the car that I bought in 2013."

Example

"His wedding, which was fantastic, ended with a big party in their house."

When do you use "whom and whose"

- Als je verwijst naar bezit bij personen en naar onderlinge relaties

"The boy whose cat just died will stay at home today."

"Johnny, whose mother is an actress, loves acting and dancing."

- Als je verwijst naar personen.

"That woman whom I loved was my wife."

"Your colleague, whom I met yesterday, was pretty rude!"

I this sentence correct? "This is the grey dog, which was very cute, I visited yesterday."
