From active into passive
  • object in active sentence > subject in passive sentence
    He stole that car > That car was stolen.
  • passive: form of "to be" + past participle
    He stole that car > That car was stolen.
    modals: modal + past participle
  • make sure the tenses match!
    He steals cars > Cars are stolen
    He stole cars > Cars were stolen.
  • passive: if you want to say who did it, add "by"
    Jack stole cars > Cars were stolen by Jack.
